Branding, artwork, website management, donor relations, and more go into my roles at WPRB.
TL;DR: Management skills, graphic design, branding, and user experience summarize what I do at WPRB!
WPRB is a freeform radio station that plays any type of music you can name. We pride ourselves on playing "music you can't hear on the radio" (which is also one of our show's names). As such, we have a physical library of 10,000+ albums, in CD's, Records, and tapes.
When I was given the opportunity to have a show at WPRB, I knew that I didn't want to stick to only my music library- I too wanted to expand my horizons and listening radius. I also wanted my show's brand to reflect that exploration. When a song really hits, I sometimes feel myself being elevated to another plane. That's what inspired me to make my logo a floating astronaut!
The decision to make Bani's Bops bubble letters was simply because my personality is rather bubbly! And I really liked that shade of pink. (Sometimes, especially when it comes to personal branding, it's just as simple as what that person likes!) I figured that if I talk on my show and they sense my bubbles, they should see that in my logo too!
In the picture shown, the words are located below the astronaut, however I knew that the placement wasn't too important to me because the artwork I will make for each show will be so different, that I just want the text and astronaut to be recongizable whether they are together or not.
Bani's Bops Logo
One crucial goal of Bani's Bops to have a different theme for every show. I personally wanted to expand my music tastes and I wanted my audience to enjoy that journey with me. Below you will find a gallery of some of my favorite shows and their themes.

After some time, I became the Art Director at WPRB where I lead the artistic direction of the station. This was a big role as the artwork at WPRB was just as freeform as its music ranging from cute to subversive and everything in between. In this role, I was in charge of making the seasonal schedules, creating or commissioning artwork for merchandise, and helping with publicity and promotional materials. I really enjoyed this position because it meant I got to control how WPRB portrays itself beyond just my own radio show. I also got to work with small creators and artists and give them the opportunity to have their artwork seen by a larger audience.
For merchandise in particular, I had to curate artwork that looked best on the specific items. In my time, we made magnets, t-shirts, stickers and windbreakers. Below you can see some of the items we made!
